Happy Fourth of July!

WOW what an amazing week it has been! While there were a few rainy and chilly days, Thursday and today have been beautiful and sunny! The campers have been great! They have been enjoying all the games, activities, and chapels all week. All the staff and counselors have had a great time getting to know these kids and investing in them.

On Wednesday after dinner the four teams faced off in Conquest! Although it was cold and rainy the campers had a blast! Conquest is a giant version of capture the flag. Camp was divided up into four areas. Each team was assigned one of them and given a flag to protect. The goal was to capture as many team flags as possible. The kids played so well that they ran out of time before all the flags had be captured!

Thursday was beautiful! It was sunny and much warmer than Wednesday. The campers enjoyed playing Mega Kick, a more complex version of kickball, in the morning and then Bonkers after dinner. In the afternoon all the campers participated in Skill Builders. They were able to choose between a variety of activities, including hatchet throwing, drama, and drawing. They have skill builders almost everyday, but they are able to choose a different activity to do each day. Some activities are offered only one or two days.

During chapel on Thursday, a special guest came to camp to speak. One of Josh Koskinen’s students from his church in Decatur, IL drove three hours in order to share her story with the Youngteen campers. She encouraged them all to give up the stuff in their lives that is keeping them from having a relationship with Jesus. After she spoke Josh asked the campers to write down what they wanted to surrender on some big pieces of paper that were in the back of the chapel. It was a very sweet moment when all of the kids flooded to the back of the chapel. After that they were able to have their counselors pray and talk with them. The entire evening was a great encouragement to those serving this week. We were amazed by how many kids responded to the message at Aubry shared. Many of the kids stayed and prayed before leaving for snack. Praise the Lord!

Later that night all the campers were surprised with the game NIGHT RAIDERS! It wasn’t on their schedule, and they were told to dress for a camp fire. The game was awesome! Both the campers and the counselors enjoyed them game, and the weather was perfect!

While it is sad that it is the last day, there are still fun activities planned for the rest of today! Tonight each cabin will be performing, and after chapel we will have a huge bonfire!

We are so thankful for all that God has done this week, and we are already thinking about next year!
