Megan HSMT 2012
Hey, I'm Megan and I'm doing High School Mission Team (HSMT) at Phantom Ranch this summer. HSMT is a 2 week program where we learn about God and how to serve him. If you read Ashley or Sam's blog you would know that week 1 was spent here at Phantom Ranch and at Devils Lake (a campground a couple hours away from here). At Devils lake we went rock climbing, swimming, and hiking. Week 1 was kind of like our week as campers. We learned about praying, God time, and sharing Gods word. I became so close to the other HSMTers and God, and I would definitely do it again.
Week 2 is spent here at Phantom Ranch learning jobs and helping around camp. The jobs include waterfront, CCH (craft corral, canteen, and housekeeping), dish crew, shadowing a counselor, and parent communications. I really love all the jobs because you know you're serving God by helping the campers. The staff here are also amazing. Not only did I learn about jobs, but I learned about God too. Victoria, the girls RA, really helped me by listening to my testimony and giving me advice on how to share God's word. The whole environment of camp is amazing because everyone here is christian and here for the purpose of serving God and growing a stronger relationship with him.
Yesterday I spent time with the amazing girls of Bronco Buster. They were all super fun, caring, and confident. After I shared my testimony they asked me questions about staying connected to God at home, and I think they now have the tools to always put God first. One thing I really hope all parents do is support their campers love for God at home and ask them questions about what they learned this week, even I learned something going to chapel with them yesterday! :)
This is my fourth year and Phantom Ranch Bible Camp and I love it here. Hopefully I can work here in the future! Keep all campers and staff in your prayers as we finish camp today and all the girls head home tomorrow.
