Taste of Camp

Saturday was Taste of Camp, a day to explore Phantom Ranch, share stories, celebrate 60 years of ministry, and pray for what God is doing here. 414 people registered for and attended the event, with even more showing up the day of. God provided the staff and volunteers to make the day run smoothly. All the camp activities available, including archery, paintball, crafts, horse rides, and swimming and boating at the waterfront. Attendees were able to have meals at the bonfire pit and dining hall. The day took a lot of planning and organization which paid off on Saturday when so many were able to enjoy camp!

A big thank you to all the families and individuals who came and spent the day here. It was wonderful to see all of the fellowship and fun going on at camp– serving and sharing Christ's love with as many people as we can reach is exactly why Phantom Ranch exists. What a blessing it was to share camp with so many!

Roy Tanner, who has served as the Executive Director of Phantom Ranch since 1976, spoke about his long history with the camp and where he sees God leading it as Olen Johnsen, currently the Associate Director, becomes the new Executive Director. Rick Wager, the son of the first camp director, also shared how camp has impacted him.

Elmbrook Church Middle School "Mosaic" Camp

Elmbrook's middle school group arrived at Phantom Ranch on Sunday evening, praise God! After a good night of sleep, the campers all hurried down to the lake on Monday to take their swim tests so that they can enjoy the rest of the week on the waterfront. Monday was filled with many fun games, and two sessions of chapel. Wednesday, Elmbrook's campers took off for a mini missions trip. We are so excited to have "Mosaic" with us, and are hoping that God continues to move in the lives of these campers in profound ways.

Beating the Heat!

It's been another HOT day today. This morning we had our traditional greasy watermelon competition! I talked to several girls from the cabin, Texan before the competition and asked how their week was going so far. Several of the girls said they really loved tubing and are excited for banana boating. The whole cabin was super excited for the game called Conquest! Go, Diego, Go!

After dinner yesterday, the Roughriders played a Phantom Ranch first (and it seems, a new favorite) called "Diego's Animal Rescue". The relay race course began near the Bonfire pit, wrapped around the entire 5-acre field, and continued down the hill and to the beach. But the boys weren't passing off batons! They had to run with huge  blow-up water toys in the shape of an alligator, a sea turtle, a whale, or a dolphin. As they hit the finish line (the waterfront) the campers were able to enjoy their night swim with lots of fun toys like water guns, frisbees, and beach balls. Thank God for allowing the Roughriders to enjoy so much fun in the sun! Our Discoverers had a paper mache clinic in the afternoon. Half of the group also attempted to cross a "River of Monkeys" on the challenge course!
